Pistachio Layer Cake

Makes a 4-layer, 8-inch cake

Cake:


  • 8 oz unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 13 oz granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 6½ oz all purpose flour
  • 5½ oz cake flour
  • 1½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1⁄3 cup coarsely ground pistachios
  • 10 oz buttermilk
  • green gel color



Pistachio Buttercream:


  1. 16 oz unsalted butter, room temperature
  2. 12 oz powdered sugar, sifted
  3. ¼ cup finely ground pistachios
  4. 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  5. 1⁄4 teaspoon vanilla extract
